BASKETBALL.
On Saturday last St. David's met. and defeatt-d Y.M.'CA. to "the tune of 14 to 5. The winners were considerably strengthened by having Lamb', -t playing at centre, while the losers were weak ened through the absence of their captain. .1. V. llanna. From the outset, St. David's made the pace, and it was very evident that condition was going to play an important part before call of time. The ball travelled rapidly and accurately, St. David's working witb that mutual understanding that "will always win matches. Lambert, at centre, was very safe in handling the ball, and he lost no opportunities of feeding the. wings. who in turn worked strenuously to put on the finishing touches. At half-timo the scores read, 5—3 in favour of V.M.C.A., whoso points wore all contributed through the accurate shooting of Adair. In the srwond half St. David's completely outclassed their opponents. Repeatedly the St. David's centre and .shooters wore unmarked, and each man made full use of tho openings. The winners were an even lot. and "on present form should take a lot of beat- ■ ing. For the losers, Adair and Clough i were the mainstays, and the only Ino I who wore dangerous.
