Mr. Ralph Wayth Goa?et of Aola, Solomon Inlands, has been made a F.R.H.S. of the British Empire. He is the first member to be elected in the Pacific Islands. The honour was conferred on account of a treatise he wrote on rare flower seeds.

Dr. Ferdinand I'Teyesleben, who has recently been appointed to the post of Austro - Hungarian Consul - General of Sydney, was a through passenger by the R.M.s. Marama this morning. Dr. FreyesJeben has recently been stationed at Calcutta, aud thi3 "is his first visit to Australasia.
