I'ON.SON'BY DEBATING SOCIETY. The weekly meeting of tae Ponsonby Literary and De-bating Society was held ii Lbe Leys Institute last night, Mr W. McMath (president) occupying the chair. The evening was taken up by a debate, the subject being "That the rise of Kastern Nations Is a Menace to Australasia." The affirmative was taken by Mr D. Docwra, and the negative by Mr A. A. Veale. Both speakers •handled their subjects in good style, and pni forward strong arzumr-nzs la favour of their respective fides.
