NON-MILITANT SUFFRAGETTES BIG DEMONSTRATION IN LONDON. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyrisht.) (Received 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, July 27. Pilgrimages of non-militant "suffragettes from the north, south, east, and west of England arrived in London yesterday. As the pilgrims marched they enroled supporters, and collected £7,800 sterling. Four processions, numbering over 50,000, entered Hyde Park on Saturday, the banners being inscribed with the words, "Reason, not force." At a monster demonstration resolutions were carried from 20 platforms demanding the suffrage. Mrs. Pankhurst, who was seriously ill when removed from Holloway Prison on Friday, now shows improvement. OTHER SIDE OF THE PICTURE. SYLVIA PANKHURST'S HARANGUE. LEADS TO A RIOT. (Received 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. At a free-speech demonstration in Trafalgar Square Miss Sylvia Pankhurst concluded a violent harangue by suggesting that the crowd go to Mr. Asquith's • residence in Downing Street. She was immediately arrested, and the mounted police checked the crowd rushing towards Whjtehall. Miss Pankhurst's bodyguard of East End youths attempted to rescue her, and violent scenes followed. Twelve women and eleven men were arrested.
