A verdict of felo-de-se. or self-murder, was returned at thc resumed inquest at Ilampstead last month on Mrs Sara Olgn Jaeoby. who took poison after eavins undergone four operations and been in ill-health for three years. Hefore this verdict was given the husband, a lace manufacturer, of Creditonroari. West Ifampstead. said that he distinctly wished the jury to retnrn a verdict iu accordance with tbe evidence. His wit'sdid only what she felt she had a perfect right, to do. He did not desire them to return n verdict from sentiment, because if they did it would bc an insuit to his wife's memory. It had been provionsly stated that a few flays before her death, although she was then cheerful. Mrs Jaeoby spoke to her husband or death, and wrote what she said I she believed would bc her farewell letters. One of these stated: "I have made up my mind to take :l sleeping drauplit instead of having another attack. I am getting worse and worse. 1 think there is no harm in shortening it." One morning her husband found her breathing heavily, and she died without regaining consciousness. VERONAL purr.. Joseph Rand, a bath-chairman w-ho took Mrs Jaeoby out almost daily, said he used to buy endamol for her. Dr. Ludwig Frey- I bcrger raid lie had made an analysis and found veronal, which was the main con- | stltuem of eudamol. Thirty grains was a : fatal dose, but in the case of Mrs Jaeoby, ' w-ith her disease, a smaller quantity would I be fatal. She would have died sooner or j Inter from licr malady. The coroner said they had no evidence of any unsoundness of mind, lu fact, the evi- ! dence was contrary to that. The jury then | returned the verdict stated. j
