NEW BRANCH AT HUNTLY. Another new branch of tbe Hibernian Society was opened yesterday at Iluntlv Brothers 1). Flynn. District Fresident \ 'l .Martin, District Vice-President. C Little' P.D.P.. and M. .7. Sheaban. District Treasurer, motored to Huntly to open the new branch. Father Edge, of Ponsonby. said last mass, and before Its conclusion exhorted all eligible parishioners to Join the new hranch. At 2 p.m. all assembled in tbe ante-room of the public hall, the D.P in the chair. Fathers Cahlll, P.p., and Edge were present. Twenty candidates presented themselves for initiation, the ceremony being performed by the D.P., assisted by PD P Little. The following officers were chosen : President. Bro. M. G. TV. Darby; Vice-Pre-sident. T. McGill: Secretary, T. Molloy Treasurer. F. J. Farrell; Warden, M M.cLeod; Gnardlan. T. Edge: Sick Visitors, Wm. Ryan and V. Dean; Trust* ather Cahill. Bros. J. Mohan and J. Robertson. The new President then occupied the chair, and conducted the first meeting of the Huntly hranch, which is named Saint Anthony Branch. The D.P. heartily congratulated the oflicers and members o' the branch. 1.D.1. Little also extended heartiest felicitations. Father Cahlll expressed his delight at the establishing of a Hibernian branch in his parish. He would re -n.it Its ranks from Taupiri and Ngaruatvsjia. lie thanked the district officers for their visit and labours, and they would reward them by making the local branch worthy of its (.lace in tbe ranks of the Hibernian Society. Fr. Edge, as an Englishman, heartily welcomed the spread of this great Catholic Society, of whose wo--k he was fnllr aware. They would he bound to an order which existed, not oniv thronghnut Australasia, bnt in the Northern Hemisphere.
