SHIPOWNERS' PROTEST
At n meeting of the committee of the Auckland Shipowners' Federation, it was decided that in view nf tin- assurance given by thp Minister for Marine (Hon. K. M. B. Fisher i while in Auckland in February last, to the effect that ii was not his intention t<> ask sliipowners to Hiatal wireless apparatus in small coastal ,-teamers. the regulations issued recently <-aaic as a great surprise to the Federation. It was devid.-d to inform the Minister that «hil.- recognising the advisability of equipping tlie larger class of pas.senc:<t steawt-rs with wireless, the Federation is of the opinion that such apparatus is unnpi-essary on small coasters, which are already -upplied with Morse apparaiu-.
