The important matter of providing a suitable outlet from the lower levels of Queen Street, on the eastern side, continues to engage the attention of the Auckland civic authorities. In addressing a meeting of Parnell ratepayers the other night, the Mayor indicated chat a scheme was under consideration to secure a route along King Edward's Drive, np St. George's Bay Road, and from thence into St. Stephen's Avenue, and out into Manukan Road. This proposal is now being thoroughly investigated by the City Engineer, and may be taken up in preference to the Jermyn Street project, which, in view of what are considered exorbitant claims foi compensation, is likely to be dropped. The engineer of the late Parnell Council has reported that a grade of 1 in 14 can be secured at the foot of St. George's Bay Road, while the remaining portion of the thoroughfare would have a grade of lin 19. When fuller data is obtained the scheme will be more thoroughly considered. At our Juvenile Sale. CO 'VaaToity suits, all wool, regular price 13/11, now
