EXHIBITION MAKING.
FIKAX ALLOTMENT OF SPACE. WAITING FOR THE SIDE SHOWS. The allocation of space for the Auckland Exhibition (to be opened on December 1) has been completed, and within a lev, days each exhibitor will receive a lithograph plan showing the position allotted. Applicants will thus be saved the necessity of visiting the secretary's office for the information. Fifty-eight thousand square feet of exhibition space lias been marked off in : the main block, 20,000 feet in the machinery court, and 18,000 feet more will
be provided by the erection of an additional 'building at the hospital end of the ground overlooking the trio of lakelets ' which have been embraced in the exhibition area. This last structure should contain a very interesting portion of the exhibits, inasmuch as the provincial courts and the displays of the Government departments will appear therein. Arrangements for the band contests, fire brigade demonstrations, athletic car-
nival, aquatic displays, and sundry other attractions, which, though not actually portion of the Exhibition, will play important parts in the entertainment of visitors to Auckland during next summer, are progressing very well under the direction of the various sub-committees in charge. There is no doubt that a gala of unprecedented scope and magnificence so far as Auckland ie concerned will be the outcome. Up to the present the side-show apparatus has not reached the Exhibition
grounds, but it is said to be due almost immediately. A witc just received from Wellington states that Mr. T. B. O'Connor, of Auckland, ha 340 men engaged on the work of dismantling the wonderland at Miramar, in order that it may be promptly transferred to this city. Likewise, the figure-eight railway which was procured by the syndicate contracting for the right to conduct the sideshows, is said to be on the way from Melbourne to Auckland. The Wellington wonderland gear includes a water chute and toboggan, which, together with a generally elaborate amusements outfit, will be located in the corner of the grounds nearest the harbour. A circus will also be located in this vicinity. The executive are hopeful that the Exhibition buildings and side show structures will be ready during September or October, thus giving a couple of months for final adjustments.
