Mr. George lipsey, who has juet died at Te Aroha, was the first white settler ill that place. He married the daughter of the chief Mokena Hen, and was instrumental in obtaining the cession of the •Hot Springs Domain to the Government. The deceased was born- in Ireland, in 1846.
