ENTERTAINING OUR GUESTS.
CIVIC LUNCH TO THE MEN. CLUB DINNER TO OFFICERS. A BUSY TEN DAYS. Our guests in the battleship New Zealand would have yesterday's favourable impression somewhat dimmed by the unpleasant turn the weather took during the night, but the indications are that the break will not be of long duration, and Auckland should retrieve her reputation before the ship and her crew leave the Waitemata. The festivities began this morning with a lunch to 250 men at the Town Hall. This evening the members of the Auckland Club are giving a dinner for the officers. The ten days' stay of the ship will be a busy one for officers and men, as a fairly strenuous programme has been mapped out by their hosts.
