AFTER THE COAL STRIKE.
WHEELERS CAUSE TROUBLE. SYDNEY, April 29. At a meeting of lads who are working as wheelers at the Mount Kembla mine it was decided to ask that the whole of the wheelers on the South Coast should take united action for the purpose of securing a reduction of wheelers' hours from nine to eight daily. This development, coming just when the miners are about to resume work after the — rike, has caused disappointment and consternation. It is possible that the miners will arrange to handle the coal independently of the wheelers, who are not members of the union. The South Coast miners are much disappointed at the amount raised in support of the strikers—only £I,3oo—but are loud in praise of the prompt and substantial assistance from New Zealand unionists. BARTERS' STRIKE SETTLED. SYDNEY, April 29. The strike of carters employed by the City Council (who objected to making an extra trip daily to Centennial Park on the ground that it involved cruelty to horses) has ended. The men have agreed to abide by the result of a test.
