CHINA AND CHRISTIANITY.
APPEAL TO THE CHURCHES. SERVICE IN THE LEGATION. (Received 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, April 28. Dr. Wright (Archbishop of Sydney), preaching in Westminster Abbey, said that China, which shut her doors to Christianity and martyred our missionaries, has appealed to us to turn to God for them. We have not refused the appeal. A devotional service was held in the Chinese legation. Chinese students offered prayer, and the hymn "Rock of Agi-s" was sunjr. lx)rd William Cecil pronounced the Benediction.
In 10,000 Sunday schools 2,224,u'0S teachers and scholars prayed for China.
