ACCIDENTS AND ASSISTANCE.

ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE APPEAL.

A street collection on behalf of its building and equipment of tho central station of St. John's Ambulance Association will be made by collectors throughout the city to-morrow. The secretary makes the following appeal for a liberal response: — .Sir— May I ask to kindly allow mc space in your valuable paper to personally appeal for a very generous response from all tho citizens of Auckland to our Ambulance Saturday collection tomorrow, April 10. Most of your readers are quite familiar with the help given by the St. John's Ambulance Association in cases of accident, or in the skilled removal of patients (not infectious cases) from home to hospital, and are ready to own that our cause, being for the benolit of every class, every creed, every condition, deserves assistance. We greatly need the sum of £500 to complete the new building in Rutland Street. We have raised '£2000 by collections, and £1000 was left us by the will of the late Sir John Logan Campbell. The contract price of tne new ambulance station is £3500, also we require a motor ambulance for rapid conveyance in cases ot bad accidents; this will cost upward..! of £1000. Every little helps, so those who | cannot give a pound, or even a shilling. ! are earnestly begged to drop at_ lea*; threepence into one of the. -collecting boxe3. A number of Masonic, -lodges, friendly Societies, and unions - have already kindly forwarded donations. We hope others will follow, their .good example.—l am, etc., L. F. RATTRAY, . . ; Hon. Sec. Ambulance -Saturday Committee
