. The monthly - meeting was held in theJ Pitt Street Schoolroom on Monday last, the president (Mr H. E.Pacey) presiding. Mrs Thompson, who Is on furlough from mission Work in India, lucidly depicted the aimless and loveless lives of the Indian women under _c bondage of the Hindu and Mohtmraedah rellgioaa, and contrasting the liberty enjoyed by Christian women. The freewill waster offerings amounted to £49, to be devoted to missionary work. .'-,.- ' ; At the conclusion of the JRoyal Wellington Choral Society's rehearsal' in" St. John's Schoolroom this evening, Mr. Maughan Barn'ett; the society's departing' conductor (who is now city organist in Auckland); will be . presented with a handsome cheque, being the proceeds of the recent complimentary coaoert, and a hamdcomely framed group photograph of "the inembers-of the society, hy .
