The solicitors of his brother's estate got into touch with him some months ago, and he was preparing to depart when the cable arrived announcing that he had inherited a second fortune. Considerable difficulty was experienced in delivering the cable. Several pepple bearing the name of Cox were tried, and the message was eventually sent to a sheep station, where the luckyowner was located. The extent of JLord Wolseley's estates is not stated, but it is known that he was very wealthy. By special remainder his daughter succeeded to the title, but Captaiu Cox's friends state that it will be contested on- his behalf, and advices received point to the conclusion that he will succeed. When Captain Cox's father died he left him a fortune of £100,000. This was invested in shipping and lost, and during late years the captain had made a precarious living by storckeeping and other avocations.
