RECOVERY OF THE DUCHESS OF CONNAUGHT.
At the request of the Prime Minister, his Excellency the Governor forwarded the following telegram to his Royal Highness the Duke of Connaught on Saturday last: "On behalf of myself, my Government, and the people of New Zealand, I beg respectfully to'express our thankfulness at the news that the operation on her Royal Highness has been successful, and we pray that her recovery to health may becon-plete.— (Signed) Liverpool:" His Excellency received yesterday the following reply from his Royal Highness: "Grateful for kind message., Please thank your Government. Duchess progressing -ati-factorily— .(Signed), Connaught." ._
