The aftermath of the military camp at Takapuua came in the Court, when about 30 young Territorials who had failed to put in an appearance at the camp were brought before the Magistrate to tell the reason why. The penalties were -graduated, according to the general character of each defendant for attention to his drill duties, ranging from £;■> down. George K. Dyer, Ulaude H. Gavin. ,las. Win. Hamilton, Bertie Hannah, Albert Maddigan, Reginald F. Morton, William >IcAndrew, Jno. Mcfiac; Phillip li. Willett, Ernest George, .Norman Wright were fined £5 each.; Cecil S. Johnston was fined £4; Wm. Francis and Edgar Waite were fined £3 each; W. J. Carter, James A. Davis, Harold J. Maloney, and Win. Eeid were fined £'Z each; Gordon Anderson, Robert Clark, Walter' Cain were each fined 20/ and costs. ' . For failing to attend parade Antonio Martin, Jno. Porter, and Patterson were fined 20/ and costs, and Charles Aldridge had to pay 10/ and costs on each of three charges. W. H. Firth, Thomas Freman, Eric Wheeler, and Frank Wood, for failing to attend for medical exaiuiuation, were fined 20/ and 7/ each.
