A BANKRUPT SOUCITOK.
TTAIARU, Tuesday. •Sensational rumonre have been current during the last few days regarding the financial position of Walter Shaw, a solicitor practising in Timaru. This afternoon, at a private meeting of creditors, it was resolved that he should file a petition in bankruptcy, and Shaw signed a petition for adjudication. ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT. GKEEMOUTH, Tuesday. The Police Court wae occupied during the greater part of to-day in hearing :i series of charges of embezzlement against Axel. Askenbeek, second clerk of the Court at Greymouih. Amounts involved total over £100, and the alleged defalcations extend over a period of nearly six months. ■ UNIVERSITY DEGREES. WELLINGTON, this day.
