TABERNACLE ANNIVERSARY.

An enjoyable meeting was held in the _sapt_-t~ -Sbernacle'lasf" evening, in conitinuatlon of the anniversary of. the Sunday eeho-L" Tea was provided In the schoolroom, and was followed by a well-attended public meeting in the church. The superin--tendent (Mr. F. N. Andrews) presided, ana expressed his "pleasure" _f being back again ifrom his trip. .._._. .Mr. W. E. Bush rose in the gallery, and, -on- behaif." of- — the --officers, teacners -aha scholars, tendered Mr. Andrews a hearty jw'elcome-' '"'.".. " ' ,",.';.'." '~:'...". ' ..,The.annual report issued showed satisfactory progress-made - during the year. The roU showed an-increase In the average __t_n___ce. The' "number'of officers and teachers was given.as 89, of whom 72 were on active service. The number of scholars elected as teachers is 17. The total numiber of scholars on the roll was 417, average attendance!, 237. The infants on the Cradle ; troll totalled 157. Seventy-seven of • the teachers are church members and 62 of the scholars, fourteen of the latter having . joined during the year., The total amount 'subscribed by the school a_d :agencies for missions was. £174:18/6, an increase of £10 .for the year. The Chinese class reported 20 members. One old scholar was baptised and four had returned to China. The accounts showed total receipts £199 11/6, and the expenditure left a balance in hand of 12/6, with accounts owing totalling £19 9/6. The amount owing on the Sunday school In March, ID__, was £300. , During the past" year, this' was reduced by £126 .6/6, leaving £173 13/6 still due. The President (Rev. H. Knowles Kempton) addressed the gathering, after which the programme consisted of singing by.the scholars (conducted by Mr. A. Shalders), recitations, and dialogues. The children from the Remuera Home also sang two items, which were much appreciated. Master Henri Llssack, .aged nine years, contributed two solos on the violin in good style, the accompaniment being played by Mr. Colin Muston.
