CANADA'S NAVY GIFT.
1 A PARTY AFFAIR. BRITAIN CANNOT INTERFERE. LONDON, April 15. In the House of Commons yesterday * Mr. Keir Hardie suggested that the pro--3 posed gift of three battleships to the " Mother Country had become a matter of " party controversy in Canada, and tbe 3 Government should suggest to Mr. Borden ' that he should not proceed further with the proposal. The' Prime Minister (Mr As'quith) refused to accede to the suggestion, stating that the matter was entirely one foi the decision of the Canadian Parliament.
