VIRAGOES OF VIOLENCE.

M.P.'S HOUSE BURNED DOWN. BOMBS IN THE BUILDING. MRS FANKHURST'S ILLNESS. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, April 15. suffragettes destroyed the hou«o of Mr Arthur dn Cros (member for LslingY) at St. Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings. rhe house was elaborately decorated, and v. as one of the lines! in St. Leonardo The furniture had been recently removed owing to the expiry of a tenancy. The suffragette set fire to different rooms and left pamphlets. When the firemen were extinguishing the flames several explosions occurred. ihe damage is estimated at £12,000 buffragettes cut the telegraph and telephone wires near the Bath railway tunnel. The bomb found yesterday inside the railings of the Bank of England was similar to the one that was exploded in the railway station at Oxted (Surrey) on April 4, and whicii partially wrecked that building. It contained a watch attachment for timing the explosion, but it was clumsily fitted. If the bomb had exploded whilst the street was crowded a number of people would probably have been injured. The doctors state that Mrs Pankhurst has had a relapse, and that her condition is critical. The license issued by Mr McKenna (Home Secretary), and on which Mrs Pankhurst was released from prison, stated that she must abstain from violating the law, that she must not go outside her residence, and that she must return to Holloway prison on April 29. Mrs Drummond, a prominent suffragette, states that Mrs Pankhurst tore up the license and sent the pieces back to Holloway prison in the cab. Mrs Pankhurst stated that she herself would decide whether she. would carry out the conditions of the license or return to prison. The Home Secretary has prohibited the Women's Socinl Political Union from holding open air meetings in the Metropolitan area.
