SYDNEY, this day. ,Mr William Houston (Deputy- Administrator of Norfolk Island) has resigned. . , .* It is stated that complete reorganisation of the staff of Norfolk_ Island is intended It is understood that Sir Gerald Strickland looks upon the island as .a distinct" Crown colony, not sharing the view that he is administrator, by reason of being Governor of New South Wales, but contending that he is solely responsible to the Colonial Office, and does not act with the-advice of the New South Wales Executive Council.
