KILLED BY RIFLE BULLETS. , BELGRADE, April 14. It is semi-officially stated that a postmortem examination on the body of Father Angelus (who was .reported to have been murdered at Diakova) showed that he had been killed by rifle bullets, fired from a distance, and that there was no trace of bayonet wounds as alleged by the Austrian Press. The post-mortem examination was made in the presence of the' Consuls. It is stated that Father Angelus was aTrcsted for inciting rebellion, that he attempted to escape, and that he was shot after being thrice summoned to stop. A cablegram from Vienna, published on March 24, stated: "Eye-witnesses at Diakova declare that the irregulars bound 300 Catholics and placed them in a row.. The number included Father Angelus (of"the Frariciscaii Order), "and they were ordered to embrace orthodoxy. Soldiers, armed with rifles, were standing by. A priest of the Orthodox Church asked each Catholic to sign a paper. Father Angelus, who was the last in the row, alone refused to sign the paper. Tlie orthodox priest signalled to the irregulars, who tore his habit and beat Father Angelus to death with their rifles. A report from Cetinje states that the Montenegrins say that Father. Angelus was arrested for an act of rebellion and sent to Diakova, where he died."
