While the Rotorua was en route from London to Wellington, the wireless station received messages from Che vessel at a range of 2,000 milea. The operator on the vessel received messages from Capetown at a' distance of 1,500 miles. Fremantle was communicated with at a range of 1,5(30 miles. The Macquarie, Awanui, and Wellington stations were called up at 800 to 900 miles. Since the ending of the slaughtermen's strike, the railway officials on the Main Trunk have had a very busy time, and from Feildfng, Marton, Hunterville and Taihape some very large consign l ments of fat sheep have been forwarded.
