AUCKLAND LADIES' HOCKEY ASSOCIATION. The annual general meeting of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association will be held at the V.M.C.A. Building, cornei- of Wellesley and Albert Streets, on Monday, April 14th, 1913, at 8 p.m., to receive report and balance-sheet, to elect officers, and for general business. In accordance with notice of motion, Mr. L. H. Norton will move: "That the following words he added to Rule 18, to follow at the end of par. (a): "The entrance fee for the championship competitions shall be five shillings per team." REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Ancklaud Hockey Referees' Association was held last evening In the Auckiaud Sports Club's rooms, Mr. E. W. Hay (vice-president) occupying the chair. There was a fair attendance of members. The tenth annual report and balance-sheet of the executive were adopted.

l'lie report stated that it was gratifying to note that numerically the association had never been stronger, eleven new members being elected dnring the 1012 season, of whom three were country members, residents of Hamilton and Cambridge: a fact which showed that conntry players were appreciating the work of the association aud recognised the value of being members of such a body. It was a pity that retiring senior players in the city clubs did not try in some measure to repay the services that referees had in the past unselfishly rendered to the game by joining the association, and iv their turn giving the benefit of the knowledge gained to tbe players who come after. The executive hoped that the coming season would see many of the senior players joining the ranks of the referees.

The past season was a particularly busy one, some 320 games being controlled by the members of the association, including representative fixtures, and necessitating Journeys to Holisonville, One-tree Hill, Northcote and Xorth Shore, matches in these places entailing a large amount of hardship on the members making them. The representative match with Wellington was controlled by Messrs. Madden aud Hay, tbe members of the Wellington team being very highly pleased with the able manner iv which the game was controlled. Mr. Madden was also selected as oue of the referees to control the shield match in Christchurch, the association being very pleased with this appointment. The present season, tended to be more busy still, and with the erection of the new pavilion at Kemuera. the discomfort iv the matter of changing, etc., will be a thing of the past.

The question ot reviving the N.Z. Hockey Referees' Association was not lost sight of, aud the various referees' associations were circularised as to their opinions on the subject, and .signatures to v notice of motion for transferring the headquarters of the parent body to Auckland were obtained, but owing to the lateness of the season when this step was taken it wns not decnied advisable to forward the motion to the. secretary of the governing body, and the executive advised that the association should take up tbis matter immediately. The social side of the association was not neglected, and the second annua! "At Home" was held in Barber's ltooins, at which representatives of the Auckland Hockey Association and the. vnrious clubs were present, and a very enioyable evening spent. The thanks of the association were due to the committee for the able manner in which they arranged the function. The report concluded: "Your executive would like to express their gratification at the harmonious relationship existing among tbe members of tbe association, and trust the same spirit will characterise the season which we are about to commence."
