CRICKET.

In our 8 o'clock edition of Saturday we gave an account of a cricket record by Arthur Conningham. In connection with this record that well-known player writes as follows: —"In perusing last Saturday's ' Star' I noticed an old record of mine, and one which I have always felt some pride over, on account of it standing so long as a unique performance in the cricket world. You are slightly ill error, hence my reason for writing yo.'U, as the record is framed in all the English and Australian pavilions. Yoti will" pardon mc for putting you right. The match was played in Queensland (just before I left for England with the Australian eleven) between the two leading senior clubs, who were playing the final, for a hundred guineas shield, given by the Aicheson Ale Co. The opposing side batted first, making 83, my bowling average reading nine for 32. Sorry I missed the other wicket. When we went into bat, the wicket was perfect. I only received seven balls from the bowlers, off which I scored G, 4, 5, 5, 3, 2, 1 —26. No sundries were recorded, and all the other oatsmen made ducks. H. Darragh secured six wickets for 3, and Silvester three for 23, winding up with the hat trick. The tenth man was run out in his excitement to get a run. —I am, etc., Arthur Conningham."
