Thr turbines and electric generators forming the principal portion of the power installation at l>ake Coleridge arc to bo shipped from England at the end of July. Local strikes have interfered with thoir manufacture, but the Government Electrical Department has its plans so well in hand that, this will not prevent the completion of the contract to supply current to Christchureh City on May Ist.. 1914. Portions of the plant, including transformers, are on the water. The tunnel, which is part of the pipe line to convey the lake water to the turbines, is being pushed on at the rate of three chains weekly, and half of the totn.l of 107 chains is done.
