THE TALISMAN FATALITY.

THE CORONER'S TXQUE-ST. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. An inquest in connection with the Karangahake mining fatality was opened on .Saturday afternoon, before the district Coroner (Mr. J. Nathan). Only formal evidence was taken. The jury inepected the scene of the accident, and the inquiry wari adjourned till Tuesday morning. The police have taken possession of portions of the parted skip rope on both sides of the break. It is understood that the most important qu<>stions to he de- ' tided are whether the rope was a suitable one for that particular work, and whether men have the right to ride on skips. It is understood (a notice being posted to that effect) that no men are permitted to ride on skips.
