Lusk, on behalf of the club, with a goldmounted fountain pen, suitably imscribed, the occasion being hie departure for Singapore. Mr Grenier, in reply, assured hie fellow clubmen that although 7,000 miles away, he would follow the doings of cricket in the Dominion, and of the Parnell club in particular, with close and sympathetic interest. He left by the Maheno last evening. To-morrow his Excellency the Governor and the Countess of Liverpool, accompanied by Mice Foljam.be and Captain Hutton. will leave far the Taihape district, where they will be the guests of Mr and Mre StudJiolme at Ruanui. On Thursday the Governor will preside at the opening of the A. and P. Show at Taihape. and after a few days" stay in the district will come on to Auckland, where their Excellencies will reside for some weeke.

A pleasant evening was <spe.nt in the tsnchil hall at the Central Fire Station, Wellington, on Friday evening, the occasion being a farewell to .Statio>n Olficer A. Craig, who has been appointed captain of the Remuera Volunteer Fire Brigade. On behalf of the officers and men Superintendent Tait presented to Mr Oraig a. portmanteau and eet of hairhruehee, and in doing so wished him every success in hie new position, assuring him that he carried with him the good wishes of all connected with the brigade. Mr Craig arrived by the Main Trunk exprese to-day to take up hie new duties.
