LONDON PRODUCE MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONERS CABLEGRAM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, February 1, is as follows (quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton.—Market remains firm, there being a scarcity of prime quality. North Island, 4|d; Canterbury, not quoted; Australian, 4d; Hirer Plate. 4*l. Lamb.—The market Is firm, with good demand for all sorts. Canterbury lamb this season is real.sing Tid, other than Canterbury 6gd. Beef.—The market is quiet but steady, the supply being plentiful. New Zealand hindquarters 3sd, fores 3Jd. Butter. —The market is dull, except for best quality. The average price for the week for choicest New Zealand butter was 113/: Australian. 107/: Argeutine, 105/: Danish. 127/: Siberian. 100/. Cheese. —The market is quiet, but holders are firm, and the demand Is getting better. The average price for the week for the finest New Zealand cheese was 60/6 per cwt. Hemp.—The market is firm, owing to speculative demand. Spot New Zealand, good-fair grade £34, fair grade £32 10/, forward shipment about the same price; fair current Manila on spot £34, forward shipment £33 10/. The output from Manila for the week was 20.0(10 bales.
Wool.—The market is strong, and all | stocks are advancing. Hops.—The market is firm, with a hardening tendency. Wheat. —The market Is firmer, with more demand. New Zealand, longberried wheat, ex granary, per quarter of 4961b5, 38/; shortberried, 37/. Oats.—The market is quiet, owing to large eupply. New Zealand oats, short sparrowbills, ex granary, per quarter of 3841b5, 24/; Danish, per quarter of 320!bs, 23/. Beans.—The market is firm, owing to reduced supplies. New Zealand beans, f.a.q., new crop, per 5041b5, 40/. Peas.—The market Is very quiet. New Zealand pease (partridge), per 5041b5, 37/6. Eggs.—New Zealand, 8/ per 120.
