Cook was charged at the Police Court yestordav. with the theft °f 10 gallons of whisky. valued at £14, the property of the Invercaraill Corporatitra. The accused pleaded _uilty to the offence, which was committed on January 27. j , Mr. Eustace Russell, who appeared for the accused, said that on the day pre- j rions to the one on which the offence i was eo_rmitted both t-he accused and another man had been unloading casks of from the steamer Invereargill. on & c jetty, and then carrying them to the store.
