SUSPECTED ARSON.
FTRF OX THE ARAHLRA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. What bears evidence of being a determined attempt to burn the steamer Arahura, on which three outbreaks occurred some days ago, was discovered la«t night. Smoke was seen issuing from a ladies' cabin jn the second saloon aft. The door was locked, and on being opened it was found that the bedding was smouldering. It was thrown out on the deck, and the fire was stamped out just as the fire, brigade arrived promptly to the call. An examination showed that the bedding had been sprinkled with kerosene. The damage, owing to the fortunate early discovery of the fire, was alight. The police have the matter in hand.
