The way stray cattle are allowed to graze on the public road is a disgrace to a backblock district. One herd of dairy cows run a Hereford boll, and fences and gates suffer considerably from young stock that have no paddock other than the long acres. The district offers exceptional advantages for picnic parties, and at least- two city Sunday Schools will hold their annual picnic here on Anniversary Day, the Methodists at Mr Burton's farm, and the Onehunga Congregatlonaliste on Mr Pegler's grounds. Mr. Salt, referring to the decision of the Borough Council to supply water to the Panama Estate—which Is outside the borough—at 3d per 1,000 gallons lese than the borough ratepayers are paying, said he failed to see any reason for this reduction to outsiders. Mr. Graham (secretary) said it was not the Panama Estate but the Mount Wellington Road Board that the Borough Council were supplying with water, and he thought that if they eonfd supply a large consumer like the Mount Wellington Boad Board at a profit they should do it. Mr. Salt said the decision of the Council was to primarily supply the Pnn&ma Estate. Mr. Graham disagreed with Mr. Salt, and stated that the water could be supplied to the Mount Wellington Road Board without employing additional labour. Mr. Stringer thought the Council would do well to get the custom of the Mount Wellington Road Board at the reduced charge. The Chairman stopped the discussion with the remark that they "had had quite enough water," and that they could not alter the decision of the Council. Mr. Salt reminded the members that the Council was nearing the end of the year, and that It was very necessary that the electoral roll should be made complete. All who were entitled to vote should see that their names were on the roll. Messrs. Stringer and Grant were appointed delegates to attend the next meeting of the Borough Council, and report upon the proceedings to the Association.
