AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING.

A RECORD IN SIGHT. The work on the Epsom track to antlclpatfou of the Auckland Trotting Club's Summer Meeting, which opens on Friday next, the 27th Inst., has been of a decidedly interesting character, and an exceptionally large number of Southern visitors have arrived at Epsom to take part in the gathering. Tbe Auckland Trotting Cup, which carries a stake of SOObovs, has attracted all the first-class horses available, and the race should provide the most exciting contest yet seen on the Epsom course. During the past few years trotting has made rapid strides tn Auckland, and the Auckland Trotting Club Is now enabled to give away stakes that were undreamt of a few years ago. The better stakes have attracted better horses, and signs are not wanting that the time Is not far distant when Auckland will rival Canterbury, where some of the best trotting In the world ts witnessed.

So keen has been tlie demand for accommodation, that the Club has been compelled to refuse the use of more than one box to any trainer, and all the available boxes have been booked.

Owing to a number of complaints, the committee have also decided not to admit to the enclosure children under 12 years of age.
