An addition to the very numerous fleet of power boats was launched by Messrs T. M. Lane and Sons yesterday afternoon. the launch was built for Mr W. A. Wilkinson, commodore of the North Shore Yacht Club, and is 32ft x 7ft 6in, luted with a 9-h.p. Zealandia engine. The wife of the owner broke the customary bottle of champagne on her bows, and wished good luck to Speedwell 11. This launcß is a typical cruiser, and has oft lOin head room, and a complete electric outfit and searchlight- On her trial spin everything worked satisfactorily. There was a big demand for P° ul *[7 and other Christmas commodities at the auction marts to-day. A leading auctioneer, who does a big poultry business, informed a '* Star" reporter that the following prices had been realised today:—Turkeys, hens, from 6/ to W/8 gobblers, 13/* to 21/6; hens, 1/9 to 2/8; roosters, 3/ to 0/6; extra choice. 6/8: ducks, 1/7 to 2/4; extra choice, 3/ to 4/10; geese. 5/ to 8/6. The prices for fruit were: Plums. 2/ to 4/6 per case; lemons, prime, bushel cases, 11/". P 8 *o"**0"** 3/3 to 5/C. For potatoes, prime. £' per ton v.-*!. reached, while onions, local, fetched £9 10/ per ton. and imports. €11 10/.
