GIFT DUTY DECISION.
WELLINGTON, this day. Judgment was delivered in the Appeal Court to-day in the case Commissioner lof Stamps v. Finch. The Court dismissed the appeal with costs on the. lowest scale las from a distance, holding that the i value of the gift was under £1,000, | and, further, that there was no benefit or advantage reserved to the donor; j that the gift was not, "therefore, liable ito gift duty under the Death Duties Acts of 1909 and 1911. On the 21et instant, the New Zealand j Dairy Association, Limited, distributed . amongst its suppliers the sum of ; £65,575 14/4. This payment coi**ered j butter-fat supplied duitog the month lof November. The corresponding p»y- , merit last year -was £49344 2/4. Thns I the increase for the month, as compared I with last yeas', is £15,731 12/.
