Messrs Kennedy and Taylor, contractors for the Ketherton bridge, waited on the Council to-day and informed the Council that the jarrah timber specified to be nsed In the Netherton bridge is at present unprocurable, and suggested Chat some other Umber be substituted. The matter was fully discussed by the councillors, who ultimately authorised the chairman and engineer to endeavour to arrange with the Minister of Public Works for permission to substitute jarrah by some other approved sard wood tjaaber. Several contractors who have tailed to commence their contracts :" up to time were given seven, days in which to commence work, otherwise the contracts would bo cancelled.
