As was generally expected, the match between the Christchurch Boys' High School and the Auckland Grammar School was finished yesterday afternoon, resulting} in a win for the visitors by ten wickets. ] Having disposed of their opponents in the I second innings for 173 runs. ChrLstchurch J were left with 6T> to win. this total being I scored in quick time by Ilickmott and Evans without losing their wickets. I'lu-istchurch, with outy (E> rnns to get, commenced their second innings at 2.45. Ili.-kmott went to the wickets, taking Evans with him. The former took strike to 111-Arthur's bowling at the Newmarket end. and evidently playing himself in, made only one scoring stroke, an on drive for two on" the last bail of the first over. Nisbet was put on at the hospital end. Evans scoring boundaries off his first and third balls. McArthur's Becond jver realised a two and a single to Evans and two singles to lllckmott. Jones was then put on to bowl. Dickmott scoring a single and a four and Evans a two off his first over. Both batsmen seemed already at home with the bowling, and 30 appeared on the board in McArthur's fourth over. With the score at 40 Smeeton put himself on to bowl, a single coming to Hickmott o(T his last ball. Wake was put on at tbe other end. Hickmott hitting his first for four, and later bringing up the half-century with a single. Fifteen runs now remained to get. Off the second ball of Smeeton's next over McArthnr. in the slips, missed a fairly easy left-handed chance from a inif-uit by Evans. Hart was next tried, five runs coming off his first over. Hickmott scored the winning stroke off Smeeton's fifth ball, a hook to leg for ti-.ree. The victory therefore went to the Christchurch HnyV High School by the handsome margin of ten wickets.
