GREATER AUCKLAND.
ARCH HILL WILL JOIX. Arch Hill is " he latest suburb «o bessa—> » convert U. the Gre_tter jAuckiand scheme. It is provided by the law that if 25 per cent of the ratepayers in a district sign a. petition in favour of amalgamation, a poll is unnecessary, but, although the district has not been canvassed, 53 per cent of the ratepayers have piiccd their signatures on tho petition. The local Road Board met on Monday night, and carried the final resolution, and the petition has been forwarded to the Governor in accordance with the necessary formality. The consensus of opinion seem to be that Arch Hill will greatly benefit by unification with the city, as, although its area is not large, it is rapidly becoming a very populous district. Up-to-date residences are being built in all directions, and available sections are being snapped up with avidity.
