The Rev. Howard Elliott, pastor of the Mount Eden Baptist Church, received some rather painful injuries from an acetylene gas explosion at MorrinsviLle on Monday night. Mr. Klliott was due to give a lecture, illustrated by lantern view, but the acetylene light was unsatisfactory. While it was being examined the generator exploded, the top striking the Rev. Guy Thorne, and the ignited gas burning Mr. Elliott about the head. The two clergymen and Oaptain White promptly extinguished the fire, the audience remaining commendabjy calm in the meantime. Mr. Elliott's injuries were attended to by Dr. Wall, of Morrinsville. The deat v . occurred at the Waikato Hospital, to-day, of Harry llalley, boxer and gymnasium instructor, formerly of Auckland, aged 33. He leaves a widow and a young eon. . -
