Including members ; from St. Paul's and All Saints, Auckland. . The Rev. Mark Sutton presided, and addresses were given by the Vicar, Archdeacoa Culder, Mr. J. Warnock, and Mr. F. G. :. Ewingtou. Songs were sung by Miss Oliver .. and Mr. Allen, and a recitation was given by Mr. C. Wykes. Refreshments were proTided by the ladies. |I PONSONBY LITERARY SOCIETY. The weekly meeting of the above SocietJ took place last night in the Leys Institute, the president. Rev. Isaac Jolly, M.A., being chairman. The debate for the evening was "That the Government Is justified in legalising the Totalisator." Mr. D. Brophy took np the affirmative, and Mr. C. S. Dees repiled In the negative. Both speakers handled the question very well, and in the subsequent discussion by the members present the majority favoured the arguments put forward by Mr. Lees. The meeting s concluded with a few interesting remark! n by the president.
