NORTH AUCKLAND RAILWAY.

RESOLUTIONS OF THE KAIPARA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. (Br Triegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. A special meeting of the Kaipara Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday to consider the action of the Chamber in petitioning Parliament for a branch connection with the North Auckland Main Trunk railway, to be commenced when the line reached Waiotepa, in the Waikiekie districit, and to be carried on simultaneously with the construction of the line between Otamatea an-d Kirikopuni. The following resolutions were carried: "That this Chamber urges the importance of a detailed survey of the North Auckland Main Trunk line being completed as far as »rUrikopuni, as settlement is proceeding rapidly, and many new roads are 'being formed, and also emphasises the desirability of the survey 'being continued through. Mangakahia to Kaikohe, so that roada may be laid off to connect with proposed railway stations." "That whilst fully appreciating the importance of connecting the WhangarciKaikohe line with the Main Trunk, this Chamber hold 3 that the main line should be located in the best possible position before a branch line is surveyed." "That this Chamber is strongly persuaded that the best interests of the Dominion will be served by starting a section of line formation at Kirikopuni and working southwards, inasmuch a3 material can be landed at that point by water at a small cost, and ballast for the line can be tapped within a short distance of the starting point, thus avoiding much expensive 'haulage, and suggests thait upon the completion of the line connection from Kirikopuni to Otamatea, the main line nhoulil be linked up with Whangarei simultaneously with the prosecution of line construction from Kirikopuni to Kaikohe." Copies of the resolutions will b? sent to the Hons. W. F. Maguey (Prime Minister) and W. Fraser (Minister for Public Works), and Messrs. (.'oates, Mander and Reed, M.P.'a. It was decided that a conference be held with the Whangarei Chamber a/t WTiangarei on September 5, the Kaipara Chamber to be represented by Messrs. A. E. Hani ing, J. A. McLean, H. J. Slade, and E.
