The sixth test match of the triangular series, between England and Australia, was started at Manchester to-day. The weather was wet and boisterous, and the pitch was so saturated after three days' rain that play could not be commenced until a-<ruarter to three, when the pitch was still very soft. Fry won the toss from Gregory, and decide to bat first, opening with Hobbs and Rhodes, the usual pair, to the bowling of Ilazlitt and Whitty. 'Die ball was greasy, and sawdust had to be used.
