LAND SETTLEMENT.
■ - LARGE ESTATE PURCHASED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) WELLINGTON, this day. The Government have authorised the purchase of Sherende'n estate, of about 8300 acres, in Hawke's Bay. It is owned by Mr J. Letbbridge. Eighty per cent is ploughable land. The Government have also given instructions for the examination of half-a-dozen other estates. Asked it land legislation is likely this session. Mr Massey replied: "There will be land legislation this session.
