In moving a resolution of sympathy in.connection -with the recent death of the late Sir John Xiogan Campbell, -the President of the Auckland A. and P. Association referred to the -deceased gentleman this afternoon as one of the greatest friends of agricnlfciire which the Auckland province had ever 'had. The president was authorised to forward the following resolution to Lady CampbeH; — "My Committee desire mc to tender to yon. their respectful sympathy "with yon in your irreparable ioss. The agricultural and pastoral cumiitauity owe the late Sir John an inextinguishable debt ; for the assistance and support he 'has, both as president of agricultural associations and in other ■practical ways, aided the advance of agriculture and these in 'pursuit of such occupation. He 'has now, by Ibis teen appreciation of our educational deficiencies and by his noble generosity, raised for himself a monument that will perpetuate his. association with agriculture, and it needs no seer to predict fchat the name of I/ogan C&mpiell ■will be rendered among the foremost of the founders of the home of his adoption, and the agricultural community gratefully claim the right to refer to the late Sir John by 'his well-earned title The Father of Auckland.'"
