CHILDREN'S CHEST COMPLAINTS.

DOCTOR'S ADVICE TO MOTHERS. In his well-known treatise on "Cougha and Colds and the Correct Home Treatment," the late Dr. Gordon Stables pensa timely warning about the ailments that affect children's chests, and then addresses "a word ito mothers," wbich should be taken to heart in every home. After pointing out how quickly a cold may prove fatal, the Doctor proceeds: — "You kno-w, then, how susceptible a ■child is to cold and that quickness in getting -or giving relief is most essential if you would avert a. calamity. "Do you know, also, that frequent colds, even though cured, lay the foundation of weakly constitutions, and that •consumption itfielf may be engendered later on if these colds are permitted to take care of themselves? "Do you know that you are criminally negligent if you neglect the very firet symptoms of a cold settling on your child's sliest? •'Do you know that in Peps—if a box is kept handy—you have an ever-present, remedy of a most pleasant character, <but certain and sure in its good effects. A remedy, too, that bairns never refuse. "Don't neglect a, cold, then. Don't neglect a cough, for be what it may, as light as it may, there is always a serious side io the matter. "Keep cool, mother, but do your duty. Don't Jiurry off to the chemist's shop for common lozenges and mixtures of peppermint and laudanum, or other dangerous drugs, that may mean death to your boy. Don't send 'him off to bed and dose him with hot drinks and fomentations and physic and poultices. Ju»t keep 'him in the house a bit, in a warm and well-ventilated room. Keep him engaged with- his toys and give him tile Peps. You will soon see the little lad hungry and happy again." The late Dr. Gordon Stables wrote the foregoing as the result of his own personal investigation and experience as a medical man. He realised that as a Peps tablet dissolves in the child's mouth, tho rich medicinal fumes given off paas through the tender breathing passages straight to the lungs, and bring immediate comfort and relief to the little feufferer. Mothers 6hould, therefore, always keep a ibox of Peps in the house. Of chemists at 1/6 and 3/ per box.
