AVONDALE ROAD BOARD.

At the meeting of the Avond&le Bead Board on Wednesday all members were present. A large number of ratepayers also attended. A petition for a. gas lamp at tne corner of Station and Great North Roadu was presented, and Mr Walker spoke on behalf of the petitioners. Tbe matter wae referred to the Finance Committee pending tUe question of erecting several lamps, now that a new area has been supplied with gas. Mr Kncebone brought forward a proposition for the inauguration of a drainage scheme. It was agreed to call a special meeting for the purpose of considering this matter, to be held on Wednesday evening next. It was decided to cloee the Manukan Eoad from New Windsor Boad to Wolsely Boed, while it is under reconstruction, aleo to Wind the metal.on this new formation with day. Notice of motion was given by the Chairman that he would move at the next ordinary meeting that the rate for tbe year would be: a) A general rate of l|d in the £; (2) a hospital and charitable aid rate of l-6d in the £; (3) a special loan rate of Jd In the £, of which it is intended to collect Sd in tbe ■£. The above rates shall be charged upon the capital value of al ratable property in the district, and shall be payable, as regards No. 1 and 2, in one sum, on the Ist August, 1012, and as regard* No. 3 on the Ist day of October, 1012.
