POULTRY SHOW.

/_ cc ___Ft T i/exsibittok. r-i -«--ar show in connection —th .', ? and Snrntrban Poultry M--11,e the w_ffN*7. eon ' and CaD - <* Br-fch ft included in the events with the St th- there is a splendid lot of enrr i« in those classes, over 73 coming rom all parts of the North .Island On SToSJan the committee have struck out the pigeons and t-a.nar.es from tbe °wv and introduced competitions for school children in the *ha P c of dressed do Is and painting. This being quite a new departure, tbe entries are not very numerous, .but the class of work exhibited on the platform is really very creditable. The entries-of poultry compare more than favourably -with those of last year. As ilrcndv indicated, the game classes arc vcrv "strongly represented, and include some of the finest birds ever shown in this city. Whit* Orpingtons have come forward very much, and ]>an"sh-is are more ia evidence. Probailv poultry-keepers are more fully •iwake to- the fact .that this class of poultry, besides being heavy for the table, "is a. good winter layer. Exhibits of .Leghorns and Wyandotte* were well up to the average, and the Plymouth Rocks, although smaller in number, are "ood *pechnen.«. "Minorcas is another class that-has come forward well on this occ—ion. Indians are fairly strong, and lady patrons will undoubtedly be pleased with the of b_rrtams on exhibition, the Silver Seabrights in -particular being very pretty birds. Tint! arrangements for the show tl_ year are remarkably good and complete, and the judging was carried out in .record time, so that everything was in readiness for the opening ceremony this afternoon —a. rather unusual state of affairs at a poultry exhibition. The secretary (Mr. ii. Tatters* 11) and the ire—urer (-Mr. J. B. Patterson) are re-j sponsible for the business-like manner in which the show ia being conducted, nnd deserve much credit for the success of the event. The entries for ducks are not large, but the exhibits are. of a. good type. The sbow -will be open this evening and the whole of-to-morrow. THE CUP AND TROPHY WINNERS. This show is marked by the richness of the special prize list, which contains a number of very valuable trophies, which were "Tvon by .the following exhibitors: — Messrs. li. D.
