AN OVERCROWDED COLLEGE.

NEW UNIVERSITY BUILDINGS. MINISTERS PROMISE ASSISTANCE. An expression or regret that the congestion caused by the lack of accommodation at the Auckland University College should be so great was received from the Minister for Internal Affairs (Hon. G. -YV. Russell) yesterday in reply to a letter forwarded to the Department by the College Council. "I may remind you that a considerable sum has -been placed on the Estimates," the Minister wrote, "for the purpose of removing the difficulties to which you refer, and I would express the hope that at an early date the difficulties regarding the location of your new buildings may be settled, so that Auckland may have a college, the size and dignity of which shall be commensurate with the high position which your city holds among the educational centres of the 'Dominion. You may rely upon my efforts as Minister, and also as ox-t-hainnan of the Canter-bury College Board of Governors, being directed to assist you."' The" Prime Minister (the Hon. Thos. Mackenzie) wrote intimating that he would be plad to go into the matter with the Hon. Minister for Education.
